Insulin pump use was not required for eligibility. Eligibility criteria for people with diabetes were 1) age ≥60 years, 2) diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, 3) naive to use of personal real-time CGM system with the Dexcom Follow App, 4) A1C of 6.0–12% measured within the previous 6 months, 5) ability to read and write English, 6) possession of a smartphone compatible with the Dexcom G6 RT-CGM, and 6) care partner willing to participate. Participant dyads ( n = 10) were recruited from an academic endocrinology specialty clinic and through social media posts. To date, there has been a lack of research specifically addressing the use of telehealth services for older adults with type 1 diabetes and their care partners. Despite the potential benefits of telehealth-delivered interventions, research has shown mixed results for the effectiveness of telehealth in people with type 2 diabetes, including modest reductions in A1C compared with usual care ( 21) and greater improvements in A1C with telehealth with real-time feedback compared with telemonitoring alone ( 22), and no improvement in outcomes for people with type 1 diabetes ( 23). CGM technology is well suited to a telehealth approach because it allows diabetes care teams the opportunity to monitor the glucose levels of people with diabetes remotely, using internet-based platforms or apps ( 20). Certified diabetes care and education specialists (CDCESs) can provide education and behavioral interventions to people with diabetes and their care partners around these issues. Telehealth has the potential to both augment the effectiveness of CGM and aid in engaging care partners through the use of data-sharing apps ( 17). Health care providers and other diabetes care team members are well poised to recognize the difficulties older adults with diabetes and their care partners may be experiencing with CGM, but they may not know how to effectively engage care partners in assisting with diabetes management or have time or capacity in the clinic setting to provide the instruction they would need to do so effectively. In addition, the ADA has published guidelines supporting CGM for older adults with diabetes ( 6) and Medicare coverage has made CGM more accessible ( 14). However, there is growing evidence that continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in older adults may be effective at decreasing both hypo- and hyperglycemia ( 12, 13). Both hyper- and hypoglycemia increase the risk of complications such as myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accidents, dementia, and sudden death ( 10, 11). Yet, higher A1C targets do not prevent hypoglycemia ( 7) and predispose older adults to the negative effects of hyperglycemia ( 8, 9). The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends relaxed glycemic targets for older adults with multiple comorbidities to limit the incidence of hypoglycemia ( 6). As people with diabetes grow older, they experience age-related diabetes changes that may impede self-management ( 5), including increased hypoglycemia unawareness and changes in fine motor skills, visual acuity, dexterity, and cognitive function. Although life expectancy generally remains shorter among people with than among those without diabetes ( 2), the life expectancy of people with type 1 diabetes has increased up to an additional 15 years, resulting in a higher incidence of older adults living with the disease ( 3, 4). Type 1 diabetes is on the rise, currently affecting an estimated 1.59 million individuals in the United States ( 1). Hopefully, after the verification process that we have just completed, these transcriptions should now be accurate enough to serve as a ground truth for various kinds of chord and harmony work in the MIR field. #Sonic visualiser chord diagram verification The transcription files are in wavesurfer ".lab" format which is just flat text arranged like this: Ĭhris Harte wrote in his second email (Sep 25, 2007, 4am): If you would like a copy of the new version of the collection then please let me know and I will send them to you. There has been one slight change to the syntax described in this paper which is that now a chord symbol, which is defined as a root and a list of component degrees, should not automatically be assumed to include the given root note unless the '1' degree is explicitly included in the list The chord symbols used in the transcriptions basically conform to the syntax described in our ISMIR 2005 paper "Symbolic Representation of Musical Chords: A Proposed Syntax for Text Annotations" available here: ".lab" files can be opened as a transcription pane in wavesurfer (I have made a wavesurfer conf file set up for showing these transcriptions nicely if people need one) and also in Sonic Visualiser as an annotation layer (use "A point in time" for the "each row specifies" option when loading in sonic visualiser). C major can be written C or C:maj which are both equivalent to writing C:(1,3,5) so the "major" pattern should be (1,3,5) instead of just (3,5). This makes it possible to annotate a chord where it is obvious that the intended harmony is C major even though only the notes E and G are present by using C:(3,5). I hope that makes sense.įor those who do not already know, I have written a set of tools for manipulating these chord symbols in matlab (they don't use any toolkits so I guess they should also work fine in Octave) - if you would like a copy of those then let me know. I hope to submit the thesis sometime around christmas this year.Sonic Visualiser contains features for the following: There will be an updated version of these tools available soon as well.įor more information on the chord symbols, chord tools and transcription process, my long awaited (long awaited by me at any rate.) PhD thesis will include a whole chapter about it all. Load audio files in WAV, Ogg and MP3 formats, and view their waveforms. Look at audio visualisations such as spectrogram views, with interactive adjustment of display parameters.Īnnotate audio data by adding labelled time points and defining segments, point values and curves. Overlay annotations on top of one another with aligned scales, and overlay annotations on top of waveform or spectrogram views. View the same data at multiple time resolutions simultaneously (for close-up and overview). Run feature-extraction plugins to calculate annotations automatically, using algorithms such as beat trackers, pitch detectors and so on. Import annotation layers from various text file formats. Import note data from MIDI files, view it alongside other frequency scales, and play it with the original audio. Play back the audio plus synthesised annotations, taking care to synchronise playback with display.
Green can also operate as the de facto point guard - a gifted facilitator who kickstarts transition offense and keeps the ball swinging. Green knows where and how to seek Curry out. His chemistry in two-man actions with Stephen Curry is singular few duos can claim the synergy those two share. It’s not like Green is totally forgotten on the offensive end either. He can switch 1-5, he’s the master of properly timed help, and he’s still one of the game’s premier pickpockets. But Green is probably the league’s most valuable single-digit scorer - a whirlwind connective defender who orchestrates Golden State’s entire scheme. Last season, he averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. Green’s numbers have never leapt off the screen. Kerr: “If Draymond is not back, we are not a championship contender.” He’s too important both on and off the court, for reasons the NBA fandom is quite familiar with at this point. If you ask Steve Kerr, however, there’s no chance Golden State can let Green walk. The Golden State Warriors can’t afford to lose Draymond Green Looming over it all, of course, is the incident from last offseason when Green punched teammate Jordan Poole in practice, leading to a season-long reconciliation process that left the team’s chemistry tattered and incomplete. The return of team president Bob Myers is uncertain at best, while Klay Thompson is also due for a payday in the near future. But Golden State faces many hurdles this offseason, financial and otherwise. That trio has four championships under their belt, of course, that’s the preference. Green has already stated his desire to run it back with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Now 33 years old, this is probably the former Defensive Player of the Year’s final opportunity to cash in. Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has a $27.6 million player option for next season that he is expected to decline in search of a long-term contract. Steve Kerr made it clear as day - the Golden State Warriors can’t afford to let Draymond Green walk in free agency. What you should keep in mind when choosing train lengths are things like route distance, number of intersections and potential stoppage points. We are working on it! As we mentioned in previous posts, level crossings depends on the rails and roads rework which is currently in active development in parallel with the features described above. It really depends on the situation. Oh, and one more thing that bothers many of you: when the level crossings will appear in the game. We have a big roadmap that reflects what we want to see in the finished game.Īs mentioned in the intro to this post, we’ll do regular posts on the current state of things from now on, to make the development clear and transparent for you, our beloved players. First, we want to assure you, that Voxel Tycoon by no means is going to become abandoned. We’ll make everything possible to speed up this process.Īnother major issue is the lack of new information from us between updates, resulting in the feeling that the game has gone dead. This has a delayed effect since new members need some time to get comfortable with the development flow. Our team consists of just 2 guys, and right now we are in the process of hiring more people. We keep working to make the rate of updates more frequent and consistent. While many of you love the game in its current state - thank you □! - we hear those voices who expected to get more in a shorter periods of time. We’ll talk about it in one of the next posts.Īlso, with this rework (or shortly after) we want to introduce a window where you’ll be able to see all your demands and corresponding information at a glance. not supplying a business for a long time - will result in a penalty. On another side, violating a contract - ie. This way, you may no longer care about other businesses until you are actually ready to supply them.Īnother related change is that now you’re in control of when to upgrade your contract to the next level of demand, so you can do it only when you’re sure you want to increase goods flow. By signing a contract with a business you’re committing to satisfying its needs long-term. Instead, you explicitly decide if you want to supply a specific business. With contracts, you are not obligated to deliver everything everywhere by default. To improve this situation, we are working on something we call Contracts. Still, it gives players feeling of failing to keep up with the game. However, players quickly get overwhelmed with a lot of businesses here and there, all demanding to be saved.Ī bankruptcy of a business currently has no direct effect on your company and it’s actually often expected: for example, you have no access to required resource yet and plan to gain it later. Initially, the idea was that saving a business from bankruptcy will serve as a motivation to extend your transport network. The last bit became a source of frustration for players. Also, they go bankrupt if you don’t supply them at all for some time. Demands are part of the core mechanic of the game, and it’s pretty important to have them entertaining: not shallow, but not too complex at the same time.ĭemands already have several mechanics: their economy is based on the demand/supply balance, they grow if you supply them well, or degrade if you don’t. Of course, both wear and obsolescence could be turned off in gameplay settings for more relaxed gameplay.Īnother thing that requires some attention is how demands work. We’ll talk about how it will work closer to the release of that feature. When you progress through the game and unlock newer vehicles, using older ones will become more disadvantageous than it is now. As they become more old, they will start require more often maintenances, resulting in increasing costs and idling times.īesides that, vehicle obsolescence will be introduced. Vehicles will wear over time depending on their usage. That feature finally prepared the grounds for something we wanted to add for some time already: the aging of vehicles. With the previous major update, we’ve introduced mass vehicle replacement. Thank you!Īt the moment, we are working on several things that will find their way to Voxel Tycoon over the next several updates. We hope this will make the development process more transparent for you. Starting from now, we’ll go back to writing regular posts on what’s going on with the Voxel Tycoon development. I had a lot of fun on the set with Taika and the team and look forward to seeing the video onboard.”Īir New Zealand, Head of Global Brand Development, Jodi Williams added: “We are very proud to be the official airline of Middle-earth and have worked hard over the past three years to create highly effective global marketing campaigns, including distinctive branded aircraft and Hobbit-inspired online content, which have got the world talking about both our airline and destination New Zealand. Air New Zealand’s latest Hobbit-trilogy tie-in lives up to its name as ‘The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made.’ Jen Markham explains. This latest offering combines members of our cast and our locations with Air New Zealand’s unique personality. Air New Zealand unveiled its \'Hobbit\'-themed 777-300ER in Auckland last weekend. Sir Peter Jackson said: “Air New Zealand has created yet another fantastic video to celebrate The Hobbit films. Behind the scenes creative talent from the films was also involved in the production of the video, including Weta Workshop, which supplied costumes and more than 150 make-up prosthetics, and Weta Digital, which created the visual effects. The video, which has been unveiled ahead of the December release of the final film in The Hobbit Trilogy, stars members of the cast from all three films. Delta, for example, released a playful, ’80s-themed video in January, its fourth new safety video in two years. The safety video was shot over six days across a number of New Zealand’s Middle-earth locations, including Hobbiton and Central Otago, both of which appear in The Hobbit Trilogy. But the promotion won’t stop there, as the marketing and tie-ins will be going full throttle, and among the latest curiosities is Air New Zealand’s ‘Hobbit’ painted 777-300 (via Reddit. The video also features cameos from The Hobbit Trilogy director Sir Peter Jackson, Weta Workshop Co-founder Richard Taylor and Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi, who directed the video for the carrier. ConclusionĬonsistent with previous findings, air temperature best explained variation in the activity level of flying insects. After accounting for the seasonal phenological development, the most important weather variable influencing the capture rate of flying arthropods was temperature, while surface-dwelling species were principally influenced by solar radiation. The non-linear proxy of density always accounted for more of the variation than the linear component of weather. We were able to statistically separate the variation in capture rates into a non-linear component of capture date (density) and a linear component of weather (activity). We used arthropod pitfall trapping data and weather data from 10 seasons in high-arctic Greenland to identify climatic effects on the activity pattern of nine arthropod taxa. The capture rate of arthropods in passive open traps like pitfall trap integrates density and activity and, therefore, serves as a proxy of the magnitude of such arthropod-related ecological processes. Earlier emergence due to advanced timing of snowmelt following climate change may expose adult arthropods to unchanged temperatures but higher levels of radiation. However, density and activity may be sensitive to separate components of climate. Arthropods play an important role in the high-arctic ecosystem and this role is determined by their density and activity. Climate change is particularly pronounced in the High Arctic and a better understanding of the repercussions on ecological processes like herbivory, predation and pollination is needed. |
